ABOUT MLCT

Completing a Bachelors Degree in Consumer Science at the University of the Free State in 2010 set in motion a series of events that have led to the creation of Malachite Design (MLCT).

With a passion and hunger for knowledge in the interior design field, I continued to complete a diploma in interior design through the Interior Design Institute in 2012.

All the while, plying my trade and learning from top names in the industry.

Armed with a wealth of experience and an urge to apply my own thinking to projects, ensuring that creative design is the result of meaningful dialogue and trust between the interior designer and client.

With every project, I strive to fully understand my clients’ needs and apply their input into my concepts and design, resulting in professional outcomes.

SPECIFICATION OF FINISHES

CREATING THE SHELL FOR FURNISHING

MLCT assists with sourcing and selection of all finishes to create the perfect shell prior to furnishing. Amongst other, finishes include a wide variety of flooring, bathroom, kitchen and light fittings, as well as interior and exterior wall paint.

SPACE PLANNING & FURNITURE LAYOUTS

ERGONOMICS AND FLOW ARE CRUCIAL TO GOOD DESIGN

Space planning and furniture layouts are done with precision by using Computer-Aided Software to generate layouts.
Ergonomic standards are used to ensure that all space surrounding and between furnishings is sufficient for comfortable flow and movement.

FURNITURE DESIGN

CUSTOM-MADE, INDIVIDUAL, UNIQUE

Individual furniture items are designed to suite your unique home and specific needs. Items are custom-made according to sizes based on furniture layouts, and can be completed in different finishes ranging from high-gloss lacquer, to stained- or raw timber.

COLOUR SCHEMES

COLOUR REINFORCES DESIGN

Colour schemes are put together to suite your palate using various fabrics and textures, along with wallpapers to add depth and character. Whether it be monochromatic, soft linens, or even brights - the options are endless and I will guide you in the required outcome.

SOFT FURNISHES

UPHOLSTERY AND WINDOW TREATMENTS

Using experienced upholsterers, items are manufactured according to specifications, with comfort and quality taking priority.
Curtains and blinds are made to suite each room's individual needs.
